Saturday Hands-On Program. The Lecture runs
approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The Hands-On

ENGINE COMPANY OPERATIONS:
Our instructors cover the "Bread & Butter Operations" performed by Engine Companies. Various Hose Stretches and Nozzle Advancing Techniques are emphasized. Standpipe Operations are covered from the multiple forms of supplying the standpipe to the advancement of the attack line / lines on the fire.
This is a full day class. Forcible Entry in both residential and the commercial setting are addressed. Portable ladder placement is a "lost art" in today's fire service. Our instructors will teach you tricks of the trade that will enhance your fireground performance.Roof operations along with basic and advanced search techniques (including V.E.S.) make this a must attend class.
Learn from Instructors that have been involved in actual Firefighter Removals and have helped to establish successful R.I.T. Programs which techniques can help expedite the removal of a firefighter in need of assistance. This class will cover various drags, carries, high point rescue, and airway management of a downed firefighter.
How often do we really train on "The Search Rope"? This class covers the various deployment techniques and search patterns that will enhance your rescue operation.Thermal Imaging Cameras are recommended to fully appreciate the progress of this advanced search skill.
AUTO EXTRICATION:
This class covers the various methods of victim disentanglement by reviewing vehicle stabilization, door/roof removals,dash displacements and tunneling.
Machinery Entrapments occur all over the United States. Is your department capable of handling one? Our Hands-On Training Program allows students to use various hand and power tools in scenarios ranging from limb entrapments / crush injuries to impalements. What separates our program from others? Basic Placement and Operation of Aerial and Tower Ladder Apparatus are covered along with victim removal, high point anchoring and some "tricks of the trade" Class size is limited to enhance student participation.
PL Vulcan training concepts now offers firefighter bail out training. Having a staff that’s certified to instruct the Petzl EXO end user class and is well versed in the Sterling F4, Scott EZ-Scape, CMC escape artist, RIT Fire-AL devices. Our staff will train your firefighter in house or at our training grounds in firefighter personal escape. As we can obtain almost any device, we as instructors, do not push you the end user, towards any one device in particular we allow you the opportunity to choose which device or system works the best for your department. And we will train you to the best of our ability in the proper use of that escape system.
Firefighter Personal Escape is tool that we as firefighters should be very familiar with, with the hopes of never having to use it. PL Vulcan now offers training on several types of escape systems. The systems we offer training on are the Petzl EXO (certified end user class), Sterling F4, Scott EZ-Scape, CMC escape artist and RIT Fire-AL devices. But we are not limited to those devices only, we can and will train you to properly use any system or combination of devices you may have. We do not promote any one system or device; we leave that to you the end user. We do offer a rigorous training course on the system of your choice.
ELEVATORS: INCIDENT OR EMERGENCY: Elevator Incidents and Emergencies occur everyday across the country. Our class is a 2 part portion that can be conducted in 1 or 2 days (approx 4 hrs). The Classroom portion is designed to provide the students with an in depth look at the construction and operation of elevators. Both traction and hydraulic systems are discussed. The necessary steps to mitigate an elevator incident or emergency are also presented to the students. Size-up, Lock-Out /Tag-out, Elevator Key Use, Poling and Removal Procedures are covered in this in-depth powerpoint.
The Hands-On portion of the program puts all of the classroom techniques to work. The host Department provides an elevator and all of the techniques used to mitigate an incident and emergency are performed. If so equipped, Fireman Service Use will also be addressed. Class size depends upon the ability of the host Department in securing elevators to handle the student ratio.
MAKING THE MOVE: ADDING A WATER RESCUE UNIT TO YOUR FIRE DEPARTMENT: More people spend a greater amount of time on and around our local waterways. Surrounding agencies are spread thin and now you want to get a boat. Whether your district has a lake or a bay, an ocean or river, are you truly ready to respond to a water related emergencies? Water rescue and recovery incidents have catapulted themselves into to the headlines. Car in the water, overturned vessels, missing kayakers are all to often events. With this we need to prepare ourselves to adequately, efficiently and most importantly safely respond to these events. In our 2-3 hr class we go beyond the tabletop discussions to look at how to launch a successful team. Responder safety, size-up, communications, equipment purchase priorities, body recovery, boat operations, command set-up and search techniques will be some of the items covered in this in depth powerpoint and demonstration.
